Jeremiah 5:26-30 reads. For among my people are found wicked men. They lie in wait as one who sets snares. They set a trap they catch men, As a cage is full of birds. So their houses are full of deceit. Therefore they have become great and grown rich. They have grow fat they are sleek. Yes they surpass the deeds of the wicked. They do not plead the cause , the cause of the fatherless, Yet they prosper. And the right of the needy they do not defend. Shall I not punish the for these things say the Lord? Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this? Astonishing and horrible thing has been cimitted in the land: The Prophets prophesy falsely and the priests rule by their own power; And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end?
In this scripture the Lord is talking to the Prophet Jeremiah regarding the nation of Israel, but this word is stll relevant today. In many "churches": the focus is on making the pastor a millionaire and not on taking care of the less fortunate. Mega pastors are living lavih lifestyles because they have caught gullable church members in their traps. While these men and women grow fat from money they have tricked from God's people, the Lord is not pleased. In this scripture the Lord says he will avenge Himself. That is a powerful word, it is indeed astonishing Today child of God pray the Lord grant you strong discernment and the ability to hear the Holy Spirit above the lying prophets and the preists who are doing their own thing. If you do not truly know how to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit then you are open to being one of the birds in the cage.
The Lord tells Jeremiah that the people love to hear the lies. Don't you be one of them. Jesus did not die on the cross for you to be a dumb sheep tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine. Determine this day that no matter how much you love your pastor or your church, you will seek to love the Lord more. Do not just clappyour hands, nod in agreement, say amen and run and shout because something sounds good. A discerning spirit will give you the ability to hear your heavenly Father above and beyond any false teaching. Develop your personla walk with Him so you will not be deceived in these last and evil days. Just because someone is prospering financially does not mean the Lord blessed them or that He is pleased with them. This scripture in Jeremiah is proof. Do not be a part of the horrible and astonishing thing that is taking place/ Find yourself in the will of the Lord.
